Ricky remembers his very first field trip when he was Prep in Ateneo. He and his classmates went to watch the movie “Annie”. Watching it again now on DVD, he discovers how utterly delightful Carol Burnett was in it as the perpetually inebriated and chronically out of balance Miss Hannigan.
Ricky remembers “Oasis of Love”, possibly the equivalent of the Church of Scientology in the Philippines because of its high profile members from show business. Most notable member: Christopher de Leon.
Ricky remembers the movie, “Scanners” starring Michael Ironside and directed by David Cronenberg.
Ricky remembers the song, “High Cockalorum” from “The Water Babies”.
Ricky remembers “The Outsiders”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Point Break”, and of course, “Ghost”, which he saw 5 times in the movie house. It ran for so long that the film was so scratchy already. Rest in peace, Patrick Swayze. Thank you for the memorable characters.
Ricky will always remember “Sixteen Candles”, “The Breakfast Club”, “Weird Science”, “Pretty in Pink”, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, and “Some Kind of Wonderful”. Thank you for the movies, John Hughes. With your passing, an entire generation will now have to admit that they are officially old.
Ricky remembers Chiquito in movies like Mang Kepweng, Asiong Aksaya, Pete Matipid, and Estong Tutong.
